GENERAL

This inaugural competition is organised by Pos Malaysia Berhad in collaboration with Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

It aims to create public awareness on drone technology, testing new technology for parcel delivery and at the same time accelerate innovation in postal and courier industry.

In addition, this competition will also help to build drone ecosystem and develop parcel drone technology commercially in Malaysia.

ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to all who meet the following criteria:

  • Any malaysian citizen with a valid mykad or a company incorporated in malaysia (Pos Malaysia Group of Companies, 2Cool Productions Sdn. Bhd. and MCMC including its shareholders or related corporation or their respective employees and family members are not qualified to participate in this competition);
  • Those who possess the full knowledge and skills to operate drones and conversant with the rules and regulations in the Malaysian aviation industry.
  • APPLICATION PROCESS

    To participate, applicants are required to:

    i. Fill out the registration form online at drone.pos.com.my and submit the following documents:

  • A fully completed competition registration form;
  • Company profile (for businesses);
  • A copy of the participant’s MyKad or Malaysian passport (for individuals);
  • Copy of Business Registration SSM (Form 9); and
  • Copy of Shareholding Status (Form 24/49).
  • ii. A proposal which includes the proposed drone design and specifications; estimated cost of system and development, experience and track record of the entrant in terms of similar systems built, and/or relevant tests/projects conducted in the past; and

    iii. Video, still images and supporting documentation to prove that the drone system is “capable”.

    JUDGING

    Professional judges who have experiences in drone and aviation industry.

    EVENTS

    The key dates are as follows:

  • Briefing – 10 January 2019
  • Application for registration – 10 January 2019
  • Deadline for registration - 17 January 2019
  • Deadline for uploading additional documents – 13 February 2019
  • Announcement of shortlisted finalists (via website) – 20 February 2019
  • Test run day – 6 March 2019
  • Parcel drone competition day – 7 March 2019
  • ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

    Contestants must build an autonomous battery powered multirotor drone which is able to safely carry a maximum payload of 2kg over a distance of approximately 2 km. The details of the drone design and specifications can be referred in the competition terms and conditions

    THE PRIZE

    The winners will be awarded with cash prizes as follows:

    Grand prize : RM25,000

    2nd place : RM15,000

    3rd place : RM7,000

    4th to 7th place : RM1,000 each
